2012 FIRST FRIDAY LECTURE SERIES In the Council Chambers of Port Townsend's historic city hall (540 Water Street) on the first Friday of each month at 7 p.m.

April 6 — Captain Norm Stevens presents “Shipwrecks and Other Bad News,” the story of the collision of the S.S. Governor and the S.S. West Hartland.

Green River Mountain Men Rendezvous

An exciting era of our nation’s past comes to life as the Green River Mountain Men present their annual Rendezvous at the Peninsula Longrifle’s beautiful location just south of Sequim, Washingon from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4. This reenactment of the annual fur trappers’ gatherings in the early 1800s will feature historic-style campsites and period-dressed reenactors with fascinating things to see and hands-on opportunities for the entire family.

35th Annual Wooden Boat Festival

Port Townsend's Wooden Boat Festival is the most education-packed and inspiring wooden boat event in the world. Featuring more than 300 wooden vessels, hundreds of indoor and outdoor presentations and demonstrations, a who's who of wooden boat experts and thousands of wooden boat enthusiasts, there's something to do, someone to meet or a boat to board at every turn. Expanded a little each year, the festival honors its traditions while inviting energetic debate and demonstration about the latest innovations in boatbuilding, equipment, skills and adventure.

Expeditions Northwest Three-Night Hood Canal Cruise

Come view the Hood Canal as you’ve never seen it before. The expedition begins Aug 28 with a one-night stay at The Resort At Port Ludlow followed by a cruise down the Hood Canal. The canal stretches more than 50 miles and is surrounded by Washington’s most beautiful mountains and forestlands. Rich in history, culture, and outdoor recreation, the Hood Canal provides bountiful oysters and hosts an expansive habitat for clams and salmon. Lucky passengers may be surprised by orca or gray whales.
