The Brinnon ShrimpFest

The Brinnon ShrimpFest is a weekend festival located in the heart of Brinnon celebrating Hood Canal Spot Shrimp and other local seafood. Held on the 4th weekend in May, Memorial day (May 28th and 29th, 2011) it lures hungry shrimpers from all over the Northwest to fish Hood Canal’s rich waters.

"The Forgotten Rainforests"

Dr. Dominick DellaSala speaks on "The Forgotten Rainforests" on Wednesday May 11 at 7 pm, at Peninsula College's Little Theater in Port Angeles.

National Park Week April 16-24

Olympic National Park, along with other National Park Service sites
throughout the country, will waive entrance fees April 16-24 as part of
National Park Week. The park also plans special events April 16 including
National Junior Ranger Day at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center and
Greenhouse Day, an open house at the Matt Albright Native Plant Center.
 

Victorian Hanging Basket Class

Learn how to make 16" hanging moss baskets with Wayne Roedell, long-time gardener and retired owner of Wayne's Nursery. Classes begin at 9:30am and 1:30pm. The fee is $65 which includes all materials.

Proceeds go to the Louella N. Lawrence Foundation, a non-profit foundation promoting sustainable agriculture.

Barred Owl Release

A barred owl injured and rescued in Port Townsend will be released Saturday, April 2nd at 5:30 pm. at 905 Hidden Trail Road, near Port Townsend.  This owl is one of two brothers that were found weak and unable to fend for themselves after being hit by a car.  The event is open to the public.

Join Chris Duff, Ocean Adventurer, for an Illustrated Talk and Presentation

Chris Duff, a lifetime traveler of oceans in small boats, is attempting to row from Scotland to Iceland this summer in his specially modified rowboat, the “Northern Reach.” JOIN Chris for an illustrated presentation summarizing past sea kayak adventures. Hear his thoughts and plans for the upcoming expedition. (The Northern Reach will be on hand for viewing). Admission is by donation.
