Moments in Time Trail

The Moments in Time Nature Trail is an easy 0.5-mile trail that meanders through the woods and along the shoreline of Lake Crescent offering a variety of environments from breathtaking views of Lake Crescent and Pyramid Mountain to tiny fern and wildflower meadows to lush woods with towering evergreens and spectacular mosses and fungi. Appropriate for the entire family, it begins just off the parking area of the Storm King Ranger Station on Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Park.

Home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife, quiet travelers may come across nursing fawns, a pounding Pileate woodpecker, fishing eagles or squabbling Douglas squirrels. Benches along the route offer spots to rest and enjoy the view. On a hot day, take off your shoes and wade on the glacier-fed Lake Crescent beach. If you are heading for the West Coast, this is a nice break in the drive with restrooms and picnic tables at the ranger station.

The Moments in Time Nature Trail connects with the Barnes Creek and Marymere Falls trails for those seeking more adventure. It also leads to Lake Crescent Lodge (where you can dine in season) and skirts Olympic Park Institute.

As with most Olympic National Park trails, no dogs are allowed on the trail.
