With a lengthy saltwater canal at its center, and the clear waters of Puget Sound on its eastern shores, Mason County is rich in boating opportunities. An abundance of boat launches and marinas means you’ll spend less time getting there, and more time on the water.

Allyn Waterfront Dock & Park

In Case Inlet, this marina features two launch ramps, moorage and a marine pump-out. The park includes a covered gazebo and a play area. Restaurants and gift shops are within walking distance.

Fair Harbor Marina (Grapeview)

A short day trip from nearly any port in Puget Sound, Fair Harbor Marina is a popular boating destination. Located in Grapeview, halfway between Bremerton and Shelton off State Route 3, the marina rests on the peaceful shoreline of Case Inlet in South Puget Sound. This privately owned marina is open to the public. Services include a fuel dock, moorage (including covered slips to 50′ and lots of guest dock space, plus power), a country store, espresso, showers and restrooms.

Privately owned with overnight and permanent moorage, pump-out and porta-potti dump station, RV sites, laundry and shower facilities, picnic area, propane, easy-access fuel dock, fully-stocked convenience store, and over 1/2 mile of public beach.

Jarrell Cove State Park (Hartstene Island)
This stunning marine state park offers a moorage dock and buoys, pump-out station, tent sites, toilets, showers, picnic shelters, group facilities. Moorage permits required.

Shelton Marina & Yacht Club

Located in Oakland Bay at the north entrance to Shelton. The marina features permanent and visitor moorage, and emergency haul-outs. There is also a public launch ramp, gas dock and berthing for Shelton-based watercraft up to 50 feet.

Arcadia Point (Shelton)
The Squaxin Island Tribe owns this launching site, which is open to the public. There is parking for vehicles and boat trailers. Take Lynch Road at Taylor Towne off Highway 101 south of Shelton, or Arcadia Road east off State Route 3.

Hope Island State Park (Shelton)
Buoys, floats and docks offer tie-ups for access to a 106-acre marine camping park. Located near Shelton, just southwest of Squaxin Island, this quiet island park can be reached only by boat. Moorage fees apply.

A launch ramp and newly rebuilt dock are 1 block apart, just 1 mile past Belfair State Park. A marine pump-out unit has been added, and the float structure was extended 40 feet to ensure accessibility during all tides.

Twanoh State Park (Belfair / Union)
State Highway 106, 8 miles south of Belfair
At this marine state park you’ll find a double boat launching ramp and parking area, as well as moorages, campsites, restrooms, showers and public picnic areas. The dock and shallow wading and swimming areas draw kids in droves. Plan ahead, as this popular launch site gets very busy during the summer months.

Stop in at this privately owned marina that includes a sling boat launch, moorage, storage and rentals. Camping is available, and visitors can stock up on supplies at the grocery store and dive shop. Dig your own clams and oysters at the private beach here, or purchase them at Sund Creek Seafood Market.

Reservations are required at this privately owned marina in Tahuya, on the north shore of Hood Canal. Daily, monthly and seasonal moorage is available with dock.

Boat Rentals
Hood Canal Adventures offers a wide variety of boat rentals including kayaks, paddle boats, motor boats, electric boat, and a pontoon party barge. We offer a variety of different recreational activities and services that include geocaching, fishing, hiking, and guided kayak tours and group events.

Union Paddle and Row Center are a rental and retail business focusing on human powered watercraft, which offers something for all ages. The rentals include, SUPs, kayaks, water bikes and a variety of rowboats, such as rowing Wherrys.

Captain Lee LLC Explore the splendor of Hood Canal, Washington and South Puget Sound in a private, chartered 42′ wood Classic Grand Banks boat. “Jack” is moored at the scenic Alderbrook Resort & Spa during the summer months. In the winter, you can find this award winning, 42′ wood Classic Grand Banks docked on the edge of Oakland Bay at the Oakland Bay Marina in Shelton, Washington, just a short drive south of Union, Washington.
